What’s for Supper?

January 17, 2012

What a difference a few hours can make!  When my husband left at 6 this morning it was 58° and by 7:15 when I fed the chickens and calves it was 38°.  So, today I want the house to be cozy and warm and smelling delicious when my husband makes it home.

This is what my menu looks like …

BBQ Roast
Baked Potato Casserole
Okra Gumbo

Bar-B-Que Roast

  • 4-6 lb chuck roast
  • ½ c soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. liquid smoke
  • 2 Tbsp. worchershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. A.1. Steak Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp. powdered mustard
  • 18 oz barbeque sauce
  1. Place first 7 ingredients in crockpot on medium for 5 hours or until roast is tender.
  2. Remove roast from crockpot and drain liquid; reserving ½ cup.
  3. Place ½ cup reserved liquid and (1) 18 oz bottle BBQ sauce in crockpot, mix together, add roast, and cook for 1 hour.

What’s on your menu for tonight?
